Blog design and set up

I love to read blogs, write blogs, and develop blogs for my clients. Don’t believe anyone who tells you blogging is ‘a fad’. It’s here to stay. In fact, I believe blogging is having such a huge influence on the web that more and more websites will take on the look, tone and functionality of a blog.

Blogs I have designed:

New to blogging?

Blogging is the verb used to describe updating a web log (Blog). Blogs are used to publish articles which are listed chronologically, by category, and also via ‘tags’. Blogs started off as personal online journals, but now they are very mainstream. No matter how big or small – businesses all around the world are capitalising on the power of blogging.

With a blog you can bypass the traditional forms of media and PR, and create a dialogue with your customers – allowing you to participate in conversations about your business online (rather than being a passive observer as many companies have been).

Who should blog?

Anyone with something to write about! Blogging is particularly useful for companies that offer professional services with specialised knowledge or expertise.  Blogging is also fantastic for creative people such as artists, writers and sculptors – check out another Web Matters client – Christchurch artist Mark Duggan blogs about his latest artworks and publishes progress photos online at – www.markduggan.co.nz.

Did you know that Blogs rank really well in the Search Engines?

Google in particular loves blogs. Why? Because blogs are mostly text, have deep linking structures, are updating frequently. Need proof? Check out the Web Matters ‘for fun’ blog www.christchurchdailyphoto.com – where we publish a daily photo of Christchurch. Within three months of the site going live it was ranking in the top 10 in Google for ‘christchurch new zealand’ and within just fours months of going online the site did over 11,000 unique visitors a month.
