So you’ve just bought a shiny new WordPress theme, but for the life of you, you just can’t get it to look the way it did in the theme demo. This is an all too common problem. But don’t worry; help is just an email away.

I’m often contacted by people who’ve bought a WordPress theme but have quickly discovered setting it up is not as straight forward as they were led to believe.

Often, the hope of building their own instant and beautifully designed website turns into a painful and time-consuming exercise in frustration. Hours are lost poring over the documentation to work out even the basics of the set up. Frustratingly, their website doesn’t look as good as the demo site (especially the homepage).

What happens is that the demo website is set up with the perfect amount of content and the homepage uses one of the theme’s slideshows or a featured content gallery. These things take time and effort to set up and you need to be quite a bit of thought into the content. It turns out that to get the theme to the same point as the working demo, can take hours for a non-geek to accomplish.

The better option is get someone like me (a big time web and WordPress geek) to read the documentation and work through the theme set up. You get the benefit of my many years of WordPress experience. I’ve also worked with a lot of the premium off-the-shelf themes (and they often use a similar set up). That means I can get the website into shape for you very quickly by uploading your logo, setting up your homepage so it looks like the demo, and adding in content to get you started.
